who supervisor chicago harassment training? Who is a supervisor under Chicago City Council Ordinance 2022-665, the new sexual harassment prevention training ordinance? The difference between a supervisor and a non-supervisor sets who must take 2 hours of sexual harassment prevention training annually versus the one hour course.
Who is a Supervisor under Chicago City Ordinance 2022-665, the new sexual harassment prevention training rules?
A person qualifies as a supervisor for purposes of the Chicago City Ordinance 2022-665 if they supervise or manage employees.
The wording is just that simple:
“anyone who supervises or manages employees”
This is very broad language.
Of note is that this definition is only concerned with the job function, not the job title.
As a result, many people may not realize that they need to take the two hour Supervisor training when completing their sexual harassment prevention training course.
All managers would be considered supervisors.
Most small business owners are supervisors.
However, non-profit volunteer coordinators would NOT be supervisors under the Chicago ordinance’s definition, because the people they are managing are not employees.
It’s important to choose the correct course for the correct role, and what’s more, to retain the documentation to prove the required amount of time was spent with the course content, to be available upon demand in case of audit up to five years later.
